In memory of Pope Francis: a legacy of compassion to inspire the year ahead

The death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday reminds us of the extent to which he had touched the hearts of a worldwide audience far beyond the Catholic community. The first South American pope, Pope Francis knew the suffering of the small, the poor and the excluded. His great simplicity inspired confidence in a world reluctant to tolerate institutional pomp.  There was a real, inspiring human warmth about him: we won't remember everything he said or did, but we will remember the impression he left on us. May he rest in peace.

The theme of the 2025-2026 school year will be compassion. Every member of the Champittet community will be called upon to make a commitment in favor of others, to make a difference and declare to the world that solidarity and benevolence exist in this more inward-looking world than before.
