This past weekend, our Y13 Biology students embarked on an unforgettable expedition to Cat Tien National Park, immersing themselves in Vietnam’s rich biodiversity and conservation efforts.

Their journey included a 10km trek to Crocodile Lake (Bàu Sấu), where they witnessed the critically endangered Siamese crocodile in its natural habitat. A night safari brought encounters with a massive Burmese python, civets, mongoose, and deer, showcasing the park’s diverse wildlife.

The next day, students visited Dao Tien, home to the Endangered Asian Species Trust (EAST), learning about efforts to rescue and rehabilitate trafficked primates. At the in-park rescue centre, they had a rare close-up encounter with wild gibbons and marvelled at their acrobatics and vocalizations. A river safari capped off the trip, featuring sightings of douc langurs and a variety of bird species.
