Staff at the Simon Lawrence Library of St Andrews International School Bangkok are pleased to share information about two more digital research tools available to our senior students.
As you may already know, the Simon Lawrence Library of St Andrews International School Bangkok subscribes to two major online resources, Questia School & JSTOR, each of which is one of the most popular research platforms. Our IB students are actively using these research tools for their TOK (Theory of Knowledge) as well as EE (Extended Essay) courses. Questia School is one of the premier online library and research tool for high school students. Its collection of thousands of digital titles and productivity tools supports cross-curricular studies in standard and advanced high school-level courses. With research tools and instruction integrated into 94,000 full-text digital books, and 10 million articles, Questia School helps students apply their research in meaningful and impactful ways. Furthermore, Questia School also supports other advanced classes including Art and Architecture, Business and Management, Communication and Language, Economics, Environment, Government and Politics, History, Literature, Music and Performing Arts, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology and Anthropology. The subscription to Questia School is based on individual logins only for our IB students, but we are exploring other options and possibilities to benefit more younger students in the near future.
JSTOR is a digital library for scholars, researchers, and students, providing access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources in 75 disciplines. JSTOR journal, book, and primary source collections are integrated on a single, robust platform that uses the latest digital technologies and best practices, which can provide 24/7 access to JSTOR collections with on-campus and remote access, no matter where you conduct your research. In terms of accessing JSTOR, you do not need to go through any login process when you are using our High School’s internet connection. If you go to JSTOR.org and see “Access provided by St. Andrews International School Bangkok” at the top of the screen, you’re logged in automatically and can access everything our school subscribes to. If any student wants to log in JSTOR from home, please contact Mr. DK directly.
As the information on our new collections in Destiny Discover was released last week, you can find our subscriptions to the above tools on the collections as well. We hope our students are able to benefit from the subscriptions as much as possible.
At St Andrews Bangkok, we’re proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP)—a pathway that blends academic excellence with real-world learning. Designed for students with a passion for a particular career field, the IBCP allows them to gain practical skills, IB-level academics, and global perspectives to prepare for university and beyond.
With access to career-related studies, IB Diploma courses, and personal development opportunities, our students build the confidence and experience needed to take their next steps. Whether pursuing higher education or entering the professional world, the IBCP ensures they are future-ready.
Students at St Andrews International School Bangkok have begun an exciting artificial intelligence project: integrating Nord Anglia’s “Misty the Robot” with conversational AI model, ChatGPT. Under the guidance of our Head of Robotics, Mr Rob Parker, they recently presented their results to Regional Managing Director, Mr Shaun Williams, as well as the Board of Directors at St Andrews, with the proposition of growing this project as a collaborative research venture across Nord Anglia schools.
