Reception have been having a blast learning all about People Who Help Us! The child enjoyed listening to different stories about firefighters, doctors and vets.
We discussed what a firefighter's important job is and how they help us. Some of the children expressed interest in becoming a fire fighter when they grow up. They learned some key vocabulary from the story which they have already begun to use in their play, such as: ‘hose, fire truck, fire alarm, ladder, smoke, fire and mask.’
The children have been so engrossed while role-playing various dramatic play areas. They were using helmets, fire fighter outfits, flashlights, and fire trucks to re-enact what they would do if there was a fire. They were also role playing as doctors and making phone calls to patients. It is so wonderful to see how quickly the children have been able to use new vocabulary in their play and to act out realistic experiences.

Our young adventurers in Year 3 took on two days full of fun, laughter, learning, and a touch of bravery on their Residential Trip this week. They returned with stories, smiles, and some seriously impressive new skills.
