Worms are fascinating creatures and the Reception children are discovering just how fun they can be, as they are introduced to the story Superworm!
They are recalling information about minibeasts they have learned about in previous weeks while also learning new vocabulary from the story. They are listening for description words and finding ways to describe Superworm. They are learning fun facts about worms, such as: what they look and feel like, where they live, what they eat, how they are important to our environment, etc.
The children are creating fun worm-inspired arts and crafts, digging for spaghetti worms in soil, role-playing in a small world of minibeasts, and taking their worm nature study further as they are exposed to worm-themed books. They are applying their learning outdoors, searching for worms, learning how to take care of them and to appreciate them as they help take care of our planet!
