We would like to give an update and overview about the developments and accomplishments of the BISB CanSat Competition Team on project time frame : from October 2024 to March 2025.
Our team, ‘Beautiful Soup’, has been hard at work bringing our mini satellite to life with the mission to capture aerial images, sending sensor data back to the base station via radio communication and descending back to ground safely. It has been an exciting challenge, from designing circuits through programming our onboard processors, to hands-on drop testing days, where we fine-tuned our parachute systems.
Team members:

Phase I. support students: Zixuan Y., Lorinc L., Benedek H. )
We have successfully completed significant milestones during this fun and inspiring learning period:
+ Preliminary Design Report (PDR): The PDR was finalized and submitted, receiving positive feedback from the judging panel and passing to the next level.
+ Electronic Parts Design and Assembly: All electronic components have been assembled, ensuring that our systems are ready for integration and testing.
+ 3D Design: The team has developed a comprehensive 3D model of the CanSat, which aids in visualizing the assembly and functionality of the device.
+ Parachute Tests: Parachute deployment tests were conducted successfully, confirming that our design meets the required specifications for descent stability.
+ Critical Design Report (CDR): Following the PDR, the CDR was completed, which detailed our refined design choices and addressed feedback from the PDR.
We implemented effective project management practices; regular team meetings have facilitated clear communication and collaboration among team members to ensure that all tasks are completed on schedule.
Despite our achievements, several challenges have emerged; we learned from mistakes, got better in troubleshooting, refined design elements, prioritized tasks; which overall made a stronger learning experience.
We plan to share our knowledge and experiences in the Creative Robotics - Advanced Projects Club, a cocurricular activities club, aimed at engaging students in high-tech, robotics, space and innovative technologies or competitions. This club will also inspire other students to participate in future international events.
