Our Year 10 Art and Design students recently completed an Architectural Walk around downtown Budapest as part of the Facades unit. While walking around the city, students were provided with some scavenger hunt tasks to complete. They looked at various architectural styles from Gothic to Secession, and Art Nouveaux to Baroque.
After a very long city trek, students returned to school tired but happy after a sunny architectural trip through time. There was also a competition for the best Scavenger Hunt entry. Finn Turner put in a stellar performance racing to find Molodko mini sculptures, drawing what he saw and answering many of the questions about the various buildings we looked at. Also Yvonne Ji wrote this poem about Budapest.
Budapest
Where past and present meet.
Gothic towers rise in silent sweep.
Parliament glows along the shore.
St. Stephen's dome stands evermore.
Fisherman's Bastion guards the night.
Through every street, in every sigh,
the threads of time and future lie.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of participating in the Nord Anglia Snowsport Expedition in the breathtaking region of Villars-sur-Ollon, in the Swiss Alps. This was the very first year our school organised an expedition like this, so it was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
Our Year 2 school trip to the Children's Railway this week was a great experience. We started our journey at Hűvösvölgy and made our way up to Széchenyi-hegy.
