Learning in Action Discovery Morning in Foundation Stage 3
It's been a big week for the BIS Volleyball teams as they made history in the SISAC City Championships here in Ho Chi Minh City.
The U19b boys travelled to AAVN this week for the Volleyball City Championships and knew that they faced a daunting prospect of playing 4 back to back games to reach the final. Before they got there they had to play all of their games on the hot un-air-conditioned outside courts. The half-term break had a detrimental effect on our team, having won all 5 of the friendly fixtures leading up to the champs. BIS made a slow start and made some errors they haven’t been making all season and lost the opener 2-0 against EIS A team. BIS were much better in the second game, beating AIS A team 2-0 and then much better again against AAVN B Team winning 2-0 in the last group game. Star players in the group games included Dan and YuCheng who were consistently winning our team points.
In the semi-final stage BIS were drawn against AAVN A team and after easily winning the first set succumbed in the second to tiredness and eventually scraped through by a 2-1 margin to the final.
It was straight into the final for the boys who had hardly rested in the 5 previous hours to face old rivals EIS A team. The BIS performance was far improved from the group game but EIS A Team were just too strong in attack and defence and they came out victorious 2-0. Seb and Captain Jack stepped up in the final with good performances that should be recognised with a mention.
It was a stellar performance from our B Team up against some A teams from other schools. What a week it has been for BIS Volleyball. Two 3rd place finishes in the previous 6 years and BIS claim three 2nd places this year. A great effort from players and coaches and can't wait to go one better next year!
